On the show this week we have not one but two science fiction tales to explore. They are very different in scope, but each brings a unique problem to solve. How do you save the many at the expense of the one? This marks a first on the RAS, a double feature. That is two for the price of one.
Our first story today is a dramatic reading of a Tevis’s short story called The Big Bounce. It comes to us from the fine folks at Libravox.org. I like this story for its lighthearted feel, but it does present a problem with a unique solution. How to contain the un-containable.
The second story comes from one of the 50’s science fiction OTR series “Exploring Tomorrow”. This tale also presents us with a problem to solve. We are told it has only one solution and that answer, no one wants to face. Including the very young stowaway Miss Cross. It is first aired on April 30, 1958.
