On this
week’s episode we tackle the subject of sound and how it relates to
good story telling. We are told that sound can be defined as
vibrations that travel through the air or another medium and can be
heard when they reach a person's or animal's ear. However, sounds
that make sense, that can tell story on its own, are very special.
In the case of old time radio sound effects were used to make you
see what was happening without character having to tell you. In
your mind’s eye a picture appears and you then relate that to what
character says. As a result more can be done in a one-half-hour
segment.
Also on this episode we have a ghost tale from The Sealed Book.
This was a radio series devoted to mystery and terror tales. It
aired for only a few short months in 1945. The name of the show is
called, “The Ghost Maker” and it is a pretty good one. It is
classic that could be told around any campfire and should chill you
to bones.
