Well, we are only a few days away from the beginning of RAS month of spooky, October 2014.  But first we have one more episode in September and it is a good one. We are going to head up north, WAY up north, to our friends in the Canadian Rockies and the mounted police. Our tale comes from the Challenge of the Yukon, which was a long-running radio series that began on Detroit's famous radio station WXYZ (Currently called WXYT (AM)). It started out as a 15-minute serial airing locally from 1938 until 1947. Then went national when Quaker Oats and ABC bought the rights to the series, put it in a half-hour format, and moved it to the networks where it aired from 1947 to 1955.

The story is typical of what you came to expect from the show. King and the sergeant have to outsmart a stone cold killer who has an entire outpost covering for him. It is called Ghost Town and first aired on September 29, 1948. Exactly 66 years ago. How about that?

Thanks so much for this great show. Darrell & I both used to listen to Challenge of the Yukon on Sat. mornings when we were kids. I remember sitting on the floor by the radio, listening to this program (hoping King wouldn't get hurt) while playing Monopoly with my brother Pat who was a great cheater. Those were the days - thanks Ron for the memory!
