On this episode we have the real story of Sam Bass. For those who don’t know who he was look into the history books and you find him listed as one of the notorious outlaws sot by the Texas Rangers in the old west. I did some research into the life of Sam Bass. After failing at a series of legitimate enterprises, Bass turned to crime. He formed a gang and robbed the Union Pacific gold train from San Francisco. Bass and his men intercepted the train on September 18, 1877 at Big Spring, Nebraska, looting $60,000 in gold coin. On July 19, 1878 Bass was shot by Ranger George Herold and then by Texas Ranger sergeant Richard Ware.

Our story comes from the OTR series Death Valley Days and is a mostly a true representation. After the story I will tell you what was left out. It first aired on August 27, 1936.
